Üniversiteye giriş denememi bu kitap üzerine yazdım. Muhtemelen en iyi savaş karşıtı kitaplardan biri. Harika tuhaflıklar, harika tek gömlekler, korkunç görüntüler, harika fantastik uçuşlar. Vonnegut'un şirinlerinden biraz, ama lisede okudum, böylece affedilebilir.

This is a sweet little Newberry Award winner (1996, I believe). It was a bare hundred pages, so I read it in about an hour. It was a nice story about an orphan girl who is taken in by an apparently mean-spirited midwife. As we find out, though, the midwife and the girl both have more to them than meets the eye. The story has a good moral not to run when things get difficult. I liked that Cushman included author's notes in the end for those who might want a little more history. It gives them a good place to start if they want to look up more information.
