Sanderson has created a rich fantasy world, weaving in complex politics, religious questions, and magic. The book alternates in order between three points of view: Raoden, an Elantrian; Sarene, stubborn and fiery princess/politician; and Hrathren, a fanatical priest of a militaristic religion intent on conquering the known world. Sanderson exhibits his ability to create real, likable characters, by keeping us interested in each one, rather than skimming quickly over one character to get to the one we really like (like in Eldest, when you just skip Roran's part because he is just SO BORING and irrelevant to the plot). All three characters twist together in a novel of political intrigue and religion surrounding the city of Elantris. I am reading this for the second time and it is just as interesting as the first!
great book! There was a lot of stuff about finance and money in it because it is about a bank heist, but it was really entertaining and i learned a bit about banking. Another one that kept me up late at night.
