Guernsey was the vacation spot for my Dad and his family all through his childhood. I have been a few times and loved this story of the island and the people during WWII.
I read this play when I was in New York traveling to see my wife in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on the Amtrak. I picked it up because, nowadays, I'm trying to read or view anything that is considered a "classic" now that I am more mature and can understand "classics." It was one of those books/plays that I never wanted to end. The idea of making some middle-class grunt into the subject of highbrow drama was ground breaking. Go see the play or read the book!
