From back cover..."Vampire bats and killer ants? That's what Jack and Annie are about to run into when the magic Tree House whisks them away to the Amazon River. It's not long before they get hopelessly lost. Will they be able to find their way back to the tree house? Or are Jack and Annie stuck forever in the rain forest?" We simply love this book series. It is one of the only "chapter" books series that Carson truly loves and asks to read over and over. This one is full of adventure and of course the cover catches your attention! We loved learning about the layers of the rain forest and the amazing animals that live there! Another wonderful adventure to discover with Jack and Annie!!

Wow. For such a fantastical premise, this was much more emotionally resonant and culturally relevant than I expected. The desperation of the extreme poor is well painted, and the dismissive attitude of the more fortunate rings true. I enjoyed the animal-companions and the concept of the "animalled" and their relationships.
