This is the first of Jean M. Auel's "Earth's Children" series. Ayla, a human child, is orphaned by an earthquake and is picked up by a clan of neanderthals. The book is about her life and her struggles to fit in. Lots of description of the environment at the time, and with some interesting anthropological theories by the author. A good study of dichotomy too, as the reader is forced to compare modern-day human standards to the "clan" lifestyle that Ayla is forced to lead.

I think the book Epic was a fun/action filled book to read. I like mostly how the author based the book off of a future cicilization whos rules are based on a game.
